In the early hours of a Sunday morning in June 2020, the life of 22-year-old Russell Forrest Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The young man was discovered in a courtyard alleyway of the Albany Houses, a New York City Housing Authority development in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Police who responded to the scene at approximately 1:20 a.m. on June 7th found Forrest lying face down, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
