David Dottin, a 49-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York, tragically lost his life on September 3, 2017. Dottin, who worked as a school lunch aide, was fatally shot in front of his two sons, aged 11 and 17, outside their home on Herkimer Place in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. as the family was preparing for the upcoming J'Ouvert street parade.
