In the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx, on the afternoon of July 14, 2023, the life of 28-year-old Denzel Plummer, a Black male, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. near his home, directly across the street from the Bronx Hall of Justice. Plummer was outside an apartment building on East 161st Street when a black SUV carrying two individuals pulled up. One man exited the vehicle, drew a weapon, and fired, striking Plummer in the chest.
