On July 14, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m., 28-year-old Bronx resident Denzel Plummer was fatally shot near his home in the Melrose neighborhood. The incident occurred outside an apartment building at 281 East 161st Street, directly across from his residence and just a half-block away from the Bronx Hall of Justice.
