In the early evening of a winter day in the Bronx, tragedy struck a young man named Andrew Mora. The 17-year-old male was in the Highbridge neighborhood on Friday, January 3, 2025, when violence erupted. Just before 6 p.m., at 1491 Macombs Road, the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm. When police and emergency services arrived at the scene, they found Andrew Mora with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Alongside Andrew, another 17-year-old was discovered at the scene, also a victim
of the shooting, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Both teenagers were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Andrew Mora succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The second teenager was hospitalized and was expected to survive.
In the days that followed the shooting, the New York Police Department confirmed that they were actively investigating the homicide. At the time, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting, and the police had not publicly identified any suspects. The circumstances that led to the deadly encounter remained under investigation. The police appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident that took the life of the young man and left another injured.
