In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 20, 2023, a young man's life was tragically cut short on a street corner in the Soundview section of the Bronx. Joshtiers Mora, a 22-year-old male, was discovered by police with a gunshot wound to his torso at the intersection of Boynton and Watson Avenues. Officers from the 43rd Precinct were responding to a 911 call about a shooting that occurred at approximately 4:05 a.m.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and quickly transported Mora to Jacobi Hospital in a critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead a short time after his arrival.

Investigators were reportedly looking for a burgundy SUV that was seen leaving the area around the time of the incident.
