In the late afternoon of August 21, 2023, Abdolaye Ba, a 24-year-old man, was outside the Best Food Mini Market on Blake Avenue in the East New York section of Brooklyn. It was around 3:25 p.m. when the sound of a gunshot cut through the air. Ba was struck in the face by a bullet and immediately rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. For three days, he fought for his life, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
