Bruno Facciola, a 54-year-old Italian-American man, met a brutal end on August 24, 1990, ensnared in the treacherous world of organized crime. A made man in the Lucchese crime family, Facciola was lured to a garage in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn under a false pretense. He was accused of being a government informant, a death sentence in the mafia. This false information was fed to the Lucchese leadership by two corrupt NYPD detectives, Louis Eppolito and Stephen Caracappa.
