Carey Gabay, a 43-year-old aide to Governor Andrew Cuomo, tragically lost his life on September 7, 2015, in Brooklyn, New York. Gabay was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shootout during the J'Ouvert Festival, a pre-dawn celebration preceding the annual West Indian American Day Parade.
