According to police reports, two individuals on bicycles approached the vehicle and opened fire. Fofana was struck multiple times in the jaw, neck, and back. Despite being rushed to Maimonides Hospital, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. A 20-year-old passenger in the SUV was also wounded, sustaining a gunshot to the back, but was transported to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
