In the late morning of August 30, 2023, the Beechwood neighborhood of Rochester, New York, was disrupted by a sudden act of violence. Rego Ellis, a 49-year-old Black male, was walking near the intersection of Beechwood Street and Hayward Avenue at approximately 11 a.m. when a vehicle approached him.
