On the morning of August 30, 2023, 49-year-old Rego Ellis was fatally shot in Rochester, New York's Beechwood neighborhood. Around 11 a.m., Ellis was walking near the intersection of Beechwood Street and Hayward Avenue when a vehicle approached, and an occupant fired nearly two dozen rounds at him. Sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, Ellis was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
