On September 17, 2023, 80-year-old Bronx resident Marcelino Valerio was fatally shot in an execution-style attack. The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. near West 168th Street and Ogden Avenue in the Highbridge neighborhood, shortly after Valerio and his wife returned home from a family celebration. Surveillance footage captured a masked individual dressed in black approaching the couple and shooting Valerio twice in the head before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
