In the Bronx, a quiet evening was shattered by gunfire that claimed the life of a local man. Andres Jose Gomez Rodriguez, a 47-year-old, was sitting in his own SUV when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at approximately 7:01 PM in front of 1480 Popham Avenue.
Police from the 46th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Andres Jose Gomez Rodriguez inside his vehicle with gunshot wounds to his torso. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
