When officers from the 70th Precinct arrived at the scene in response to a 911 call, they discovered Baugh conscious and alert, despite having sustained a gunshot wound to his groin.

quickly transported Baugh to Kings County Hospital. Despite initial signs of alertness, his condition took a grave turn. Medical staff at the hospital fought to save his life, but Baugh ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
