On October 29, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., 47-year-old Bladimy Mathurin and his 27-year-old stepson, Chinwai Mode, were fatally shot in the hallway of their apartment building at 1418 Brooklyn Avenue in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.
