Russel Timoshenko, a 23-year-old New York Police Department (NYPD) officer, was tragically shot on July 9, 2007, during a routine traffic stop in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Timoshenko and his partner, Officer Herman Yan, had pulled over a stolen BMW SUV.
