In the early hours of July 5, 2020, amidst a wave of violence that swept across New York City over the Fourth of July weekend, 19-year-old Nahjah Ellis was fatally shot in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn. The incident occurred on East 39th Street during a confrontation with another individual.
