On April 21, 2023, at approximately 11:06 PM, 18-year-old Rmeek Lucas was fatally shot near the Ingersoll Houses in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. As he exited his residence at 60 Saint Edwards Street, Lucas was approached by a group of individuals, including Justin Edwards, who was wearing a black Brooklyn Nets hoodie. Edwards fired multiple shots, striking Lucas in the torso and right leg. Despite efforts to save him, Lucas was pronounced dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
