Ethan Holder, a 19-year-old male, had just finished his day's work as a substitute paraprofessional at Public School 203 on October 11, 2022. As he walked home shortly before 3 p.m., he was fatally shot in the head. The brazen attack occurred on Avenue M, where the assailant fired multiple shots at Holder from across the street without any words being exchanged.

Holder managed to stumble into a nearby deli where he collapsed. He was rushed to a local hospital, but succumbed to his injuries the following day.
