On July 21, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., 21-year-old Venezuelan national Enny de Jesus Urbina Mendez was fatally shot outside a migrant shelter located at 29 Ryerson Street in Brooklyn, New York. The assailants, two men on a moped, approached the shelter; the passenger dismounted and fired multiple shots at Urbina Mendez, striking him in the chest, left leg, and left shoulder.
