On February 26, 2024, 37-year-old bodega worker Nazim Berry was fatally shot in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The incident occurred at Amin Deli and Grocery on Franklin Avenue, where Berry had been employed for several years. According to his mother, Danette Hollie, the altercation began when a customer requested a free Black & Mild cigar, which Berry declined.
