On a Wednesday afternoon in April, a dark-colored sedan rushed to the entrance of Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Inside, 45-year-old Oliver Gamaliel was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. At approximately 2:37 p.m. on April 17, 2024, an unidentified group of people dropped him off at the hospital, hoping to save his life.
However, his injury was too severe, and just minutes later, at 2:46 p.m., he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Detectives from the New York Police Department began an investigation into the deadly shooting. Their search led them to a smoke shop located at 328 East 98th Street in Brownsville, which they believe was the scene of the crime. According to video surveillance from the area, the suspected shooter fled the scene on foot after the incident.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting of Oliver Gamaliel, a resident of Wyona Street in Brooklyn. The investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities continue to search for the individual responsible for his death. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in their investigation.
