On June 19, 2023, at approximately 5:50 p.m., 16-year-old Amiere Hayes was fatally shot in the head on Marcus Garvey Boulevard near Willoughby Avenue in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The assailants, two teenage males believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, approached Hayes and fired three shots at point-blank range.
