In the summer of 2015, a tragic event unfolded in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. On a Friday night, 54-year-old Quentin Merritt was discovered on the second-floor landing of his apartment building on Van Buren Street with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Throop Avenue, and Merritt was quickly transported to Kings County Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, his condition did not impr ...
