In the late hours of a Sunday in Brooklyn, the life of John Terrell, a 45-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On March 30, 2025, inside an apartment building at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Miller Avenue, chaos erupted in a hail of gunfire. When the violence subsided, Terrell had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was not the only person struck by the gunfire in what was ultimately a triple shooting.
Two other men, aged 65 and 60, were also wounded in the incident. The older of the two was shot in the leg, while the other suffered wounds to his arm and abdomen. Both men were transported to Brookdale University Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. The shooting prompted a swift response from law enforcement, who have since been piecing together the events of that night.
As of now, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under active investigation by the New York City Police Department. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting, and no arrests have been announced. The investigation continues as detectives work to understand the motive behind the incident that ended one man's life and left two others injured.
