On a summer evening in Brooklyn, New York, a dedicated public servant's life was tragically cut short. Arturo M. Meyers, a 42-year-old male corrections officer, was fatally shot on June 17, 1993. A veteran of the New York City Department of Correction for 19 years, he was just six months away from eligibility for his 20-year retirement.
