In the early evening of a December day, a dispute inside a Williamsburg bodega tragically escalated, leaving one man dead and another facing a murder charge. The victim, 34-year-old Augustin Santiago of Bed-Stuy, was found by emergency responders with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest near the intersection of Broadway and Marcy Avenue just before 6 p.m. on December 9, 2021. He was rushed to Woodhull Hospital, but the efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
