A burst of gunfire shattered the Saturday afternoon calm in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn on March 11, 2023, leaving one man dead and three others wounded in a brazen daylight shooting. The deceased was identified as 39-year-old Emmanuel Soray, a male resident of Brooklyn. The shooting occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. inside an apartment building on East 45th Street, near Snyder Avenue.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a chaotic and violent tableau.
Soray was found unconscious and unresponsive, having sustained a gunshot wound to his face. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Three other victims were also caught in the spray of bullets. A 27-year-old woman was shot in the torso and was reported to be in critical condition. A 40-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, and a 33-year-old woman was shot in the arm and buttocks. The fourth victim privately sought medical attention at a hospital in New Jersey.
