In the early hours of a Sunday in August 2021, the sounds of a party at a Brooklyn event space were tragically interrupted by gunfire. When the violence subsided, 36-year-old Nicholas Palmer and another man, Novada Bailey, also 36, were dead, and three other people were wounded. The incident unfolded at a gathering on Wortman Avenue in East New York, where a celebration turned into a scene of chaos and loss.
