On March 28, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to reports of gunfire near the Express Stop gas station at Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 23-year-old Donald Young inside a vehicle in the gas station's parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds.
