On March 31, 2023, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Kansas City police responded to a report of a shooting in the 3500 block of Roberts Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 64-year-old Robert Carter lying unresponsive in the street next to a vehicle, having sustained gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the police and EMS personnel, Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
