In the evening hours of May 7, 2024, a gathering at a home on Corrington Avenue in south Kansas City was shattered by gunfire. When police responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., they discovered a chaotic and tragic situation. One man, identified as 23-year-old Prophet Thompson of Independence, Missouri, was found inside the residence with fatal gunshot wounds. Two other individuals, a woman and a teenage boy, were also shot and critically injured.
