Early on the morning of May 1, 2017, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were dispatched to a neighborhood in the 3600 block of Benton Boulevard following reports of gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the body of 26-year-old Brian G. Grimmett Jr. sprawled in front of a residence. First responders and paramedics attended to the victim, but he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
