On August 21, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 7000 block of Eastwood Trafficway. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Stephen Carvel Carter Jr. lying in the parking lot of a laundromat with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
