In the late morning hours of September 2, 2023, a dispute in the Indian Mound neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, turned deadly, claiming the life of 28-year-old Leroy M. Purkett. Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Drury Avenue just after 10:30 a.m. and found Purkett lying wounded in the street.
