On October 8, 2023, at approximately 3:24 a.m., St. Louis police responded to a shooting in the 3500 block of South Compton Avenue, near Gravois Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered 17-year-old Iarvera "Rocky" Hale, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 16-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
