On February 25, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., 39-year-old Cornell Elam of Kansas City, Missouri, was fatally shot in the 300 block of Northwest Summit Drive in Blue Springs. Elam had arrived at the residence to visit his ex-girlfriend, who was then in a relationship with 33-year-old Anthony Wayne Taylor Jr. A verbal altercation ensued between Elam and Taylor, during which Taylor allegedly drew a handgun and led Elam outside.
