On February 27, 2024, 17-year-old KeMari Marie Childress was fatally shot near the CVS Pharmacy in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Born on March 5, 2006, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Keshawn Childress and Jessica Fox (Tucker), KeMari had recently graduated from Central Academy of Cape Girardeau in December 2023 and was employed as a pharmacy technician at CVS, aspiring to become a licensed pharmacist.
