On the morning of March 22, 2024, Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of East 67th Street and Cleveland Avenue, close to Swope Park. Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Donte Sims unresponsive in a parking lot adjacent to a local business. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
