In the winter of 2023, the life of a Kansas City teenager was tragically cut short. On the evening of January 8th, 16-year-old Amir Moore, a Black/African American male, was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident that led to his death is believed to have taken place in the 1600 block of East 77th Terrace. Following the shooting, Amir was driven in a private vehicle to University Health Lakewood Medical Center.
Despite the efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the hospital shortly after 8 p.m.
Amir was a sophomore at Missouri Connections Academy through the Raytown School District and had also been working at a local McDonald's. Remembered as a 'beautiful, sweet soul,' he was a beloved son, brother, and friend known for an outgoing and thoughtful nature, and a smile that could brighten any room. His untimely passing marked him as the first child homicide victim in Kansas City for the year 2023.
