On March 30, 2018, a violent altercation unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of forty-five-year-old Virgil Marshall. The incident began near Euclid Avenue and 30th Street, where Marshall, a Black male, had met with nineteen-year-old Damyon D. Cook. The meeting, intended to be a transaction involving the sale of drugs, deteriorated when Marshall decided to back out of the deal. The refusal antagonized Cook, leading to a physical struggle between the two men.
