On April 1, 2024, 12-year-old Jerel D. McGeachy Jr. was fatally shot in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred near East 27th Street and Brighton Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Jerel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
