Late on Friday afternoon, July 19, 2024, Kansas City officers were drawn to the Northland by what sounded, at first, like a routine call tied to a stolen-auto investigation. Near the 3400 block of North Cleveland Avenue—close to Northeast 34th Street and Northeast Chouteau Trafficway—they came upon a vehicle with Anthony R. Brown, a 64-year-old man, inside, badly hurt and bleeding from a gunshot wound.
