In the warm evening hours of a mid-summer day in Newark, New Jersey, tragedy struck. On July 16, 2023, Lorenzo Boykins, a 52-year-old male, was gunned down in the city's Central Ward. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office reported that the shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on the 300 block of Springfield Avenue. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Boykins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
