In the city of Newark, New Jersey, a young man's life was cut short, leaving a void in the community. Stefan McCowen, a 21-year-old Black male, was found with a fatal gunshot wound on the evening of Wednesday, October 2, 2013. The discovery was made around 9:40 p.m. in the rear area of an apartment complex on South 18th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, bringing a tragic and abrupt end to his young life.
