In the late hours of a Friday night in Newark, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire shattered the autumn quiet. On October 27, 2017, in the vicinity of 57 Voorhees Street, a violent encounter left two men wounded and one fighting for his life. When police arrived at the scene around 11:28 p.m., they discovered the grim aftermath of a double shooting. Both victims were rushed for medical attention, but for one, the assistance came too late.
