In a tragic turn of events, a 29-year-old man, Edward Ross of Camden City, succumbed to his injuries five days after being shot. On the evening of November 16, 2023, at approximately 8:23 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the night on the 200 block of North 33rd Street. Camden County Police officers, alerted by both 911 calls and the ShotSpotter system, arrived at the scene to find Ross suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services promptly transported Ross to
Cooper University Hospital. He remained in critical condition, fighting for his life for several days. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Edward Ross was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:28 p.m. on November 21, 2023. His death marked the fourth fatal shooting in the city of Camden during the month of November 2023.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department have launched a joint investigation into the death of Edward Ross. At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
