In the early morning hours of a Saturday in Camden, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire pierced the quiet, leading to the tragic death of Maurice McCargo, a 44-year-old man. On February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:36 a.m., the Camden County Police Department was alerted to the shooting by a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of the 3000 block of South Congress Road. This was quickly followed by 911 calls reporting that a person had been shot in the same area.
