On a summer afternoon in Charlottesville, Virginia, the life of 27-year-old Carlos Atilio Portillo Requeno was tragically cut short. On July 21, 2023, in the parking lot of a Jiffy Lube on Berkmar Drive, Portillo Requeno, a Hispanic male, was fatally shot. The violent encounter also claimed the life of another man, 22-year-old Gerardo Antonio Chicas-Torres.
