On October 17, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Portsmouth police responded to reports of gunfire in the 4700 block of Viola Terrace. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Zachary Alexander-Dallas Caldwell suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
