In the quiet residential neighborhood of Newport News, Virginia, the life of a young Black man, Antwone Vernell Ousley, was tragically cut short. On the evening of February 7, 2024, the 21-year-old was fatally wounded in a shooting that pierced the calm of the 500 block of Bulkeley Place. The Newport News Police Department received reports of gunfire and, upon their arrival, discovered Ousley suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
